Stay in the loop with the growing liberty movement

July 2024
Dear Friend of Liberty,
It’s inspiring to see so much happening in the liberty-movement all throughout the world! In June, we added an additional 41 organizations and 35 upcoming events — in addition to the United States, there are now events scheduled in Argentina, Burundi, India, Japan, Netherlands, and Tanzania. Liberty is truly a global cause, and we’re happy to be in it with you! 🌍️
As always, we welcome submissions for any organizations or events we may have missed. Don’t hesitate to let us (and everyone) know what’s happening so we can get it organized!
With heartfelt thanks,

June Roundup

David Boaz sadly passed away on June 7th after a year-long battle with cancer.
For more than four decades as the Cato Institute’s vice president for public policy and executive vice president, David Boaz played an indispensable role in the development of Cato and was a foundational figure of modern libertarian thought.
Under David’s direction, Cato grew from a small organization with a handful of employees renting office space in San Francisco, to a leading think tank in Washington, DC with a global presence. David’s exceptional scholarship, integrity, and standards for excellence informed every aspect of Cato. Anyone who has interacted with Cato’s work over the past 40 years was affected by David.
I am an optimist and a progressive. I believe that the simple, timeless principles of the American Revolution–individual liberty, limited government, and free markets–are even more powerful and more important in the world of instant communication, global markets, and unprecedented access to information than Jefferson or Madison could have imagined. Libertarianism is not just a framework for utopia, it is the indispensable framework for the future.
— David Boaz, The Libertarian Mind: A Manifesto for Freedom
David Boaz had a unique ability to simplify ideas and make liberty the obvious choice. He dedicated his life towards getting us closer to a freer and more just world and his contributions were unmatched. He will be missed.

Take a look back at one of David’s final interviews with Isidora Kolar, CEO of the New Intellectuals Network:
David’s last public remarks were given at the 2024 LibertyCon Conference earlier this year in February, hosted by Students for Liberty:
Acton University, featuring a conversation with UFC Fighter Renato Moicano
You’ve likely already seen this viral clip of UFC Fighter Renato Moicano encouraging everyone to read Ludwig von Mises and the 6 lessons of the Austrian Economic School 📚️ :
Last month, Renato joined Rev. Robert Sirico at Acton University 2024 for a deeper conversation:
In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, we collaborated with actor and film producer Robert Anthony Peters to promote his excellent short film "Tank Man." This compelling fictional portrayal depicts the events leading up to the iconic photograph of the lone rebel standing in defiance of the tanks. Thanks to our partnership, the film is now available for viewing natively on X:
On June 5, 1989, an unidentified man stood resolute against a column of tanks near Tiananmen Square. The day prior, his government massacred hundreds—some say thousands—of its own people protesting this oppressive regime. Popular culture remembers him as “tank man,” but who was… x.com/i/web/status/1…
