Recent Highlights
Ross Ulbricht at FreedomFest 2025
It was a pleasure to attend Freedomfest 2025, which featured some of the Liberty Movement’s prevailing figures, including Wolf von Laer, CEO of Students for Liberty, Nick Gillespie, Editor-At-Large at Reason, Spike Cohen, Founder of You Are the Power, and many others. It was a captivating event, complete with thought-provoking conversations, rousing debates, and a networking environment that is difficult to match.
Among the numerous engaging speeches, one stood out from the rest. A passionate Ross Ulbricht delivered a solemn address, focusing on the horrors of the prison system he only recently was liberated from. Speaking on the tendency of the general public to apathetically dismiss the plight of prisoners, Ross stated, “If we are to be a truly free country, we must treat even them—the least among us, with dignity and respect."
America’s Future: Meet New 1995 Society Inductee Nathan Fatal!

Eric Kohn, CEO of America’s Future inducts Nathan Fatal into the 1995 Society 🎉
We were thrilled to attend and help photograph America’s Future California Awards Showcase at FreedomFest and see Nathan Fatal be inducted into the 1995 society!
Nathan is the Director of Community Organizing at the Leadership Institute. He has overseen hundreds of volunteers and political campaign staff across the United States and has trained over 10,000 activists globally. He led the charge on lawsuits and legislation that protected the freedom of speech and expression at 76 American universities. In 2021 and 2022, he organized restaurant owners and activists in Los Angeles to engage in civil disobedience against lockdowns that were destroying family-run businesses and the freedom of commerce essential to a free society. Before his time as an organizer, he oversaw campus groups, training, and events on the West Coast for the Leadership Institute and Young Americans for Liberty.
Porcfest XXII

The Free State Project’s 22nd Porcupine Freedom Festival is in the books, but those lucky enough to attend won’t soon forget all the fun had, conversations sparked, and lifelong connections kindled. The event featured talks by Robert Murphy of the Mises Institute, Scott Horton of the Libertarian Institute, and welcomed the new Executive Director of the Free State Project, Eric Brakey. The event featured a live performance of the ”Free Ross” anthem, followed by a heartfelt speech from Ross Ulbricht himself, warmly thanking the Porcfest community for their emphatic support for his clemency.
The event was especially impactful, as it marked the first time Ross had appeared at Porcfest since his unjust imprisonment in 2015. Since then, Porcfest featured a broad base of support for his release, including several appearances by his mother, Lynn. “Free Ross” became an integral part of Porcfest culture, and it was no surprise to see a packed house cheering his triumphant return to the stage after 11 years behind bars.
Galt’s Gulch - Atlas Society
The Atlas Society hosted their annual Galt’s Gulch conference, bringing Objectivists from around the globe to Austin, TX and featuring speeches from some of the brightest minds in the Objectivist movement, including Rob Tracinski, Dr. Richard Salsman, Dr. Stephen Hicks, and entrepreneurs such as Jay Lapeyre. The event was an immense success, with one attendee noting, “It’s a great time, it's an opportunity to meet other Objectivists, to listen to different ideas, to just explore different countries. Honestly, it’s amazing that every year I keep coming, there’s more and more nationalities coming each year, and that’s something that I really love about coming to Galt’s Gulch.”
The event culminated in the presentation of the Society’s Prometheus Prize to Matthew Fiskin, South Island Regional Field Officer for ACT New Zealand and former Students for Liberty New Zealand Regional Coordinator, who stated, “The Atlas Society has changed my life. I’ve learned so much, I’ve made wonderful connections and friends from all over the world, and I’ve been the first to receive the Prometheus Prize, it’s such an honor.”
Legalize All Drugs - Reason
On June 24, Reason teamed up with City Journal for a spirited and deeply engaging debate on one of the most controversial* questions in public policy: "Should all drugs be legalized?"
Arguing in favor were Reason’s own Billy Binion and Jacob Sullum, champions of individual liberty and opponents of the war on drugs. Opposing them were City Journal’s Charles Fain Lehman and Rafael Mangual, who made the case for continued prohibition.
Moderated by Reason’s Peter Suderman, the debate took place before a packed house at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C., offering a rare clash of perspectives on personal freedom, public health, and the proper limits of government power.
