Recent Highlights

YALCON DC

We were honored to attend YALCON DC, featuring such big names as Fmr. Michigan Congressman Justin Amash, John Stossel, and Matt Kibbe. This event brought together student activists from around the USA for a day of conversations, networking, and training to Make Liberty Win from the university campus to the legislative hall across the nation.

LibertyCon - Europe

Americans can’t have all the fun, so it was our pleasure to sponsor LibertyCon Europe hosted at the spectacular Gabriel Loci in Prague, the largest gathering of liberty-lovers in Europe, bringing together such names such as Johan Norberg, Tom G. Palmer, and David Friedman, and featuring one of the best themes of the year—Building Bridges.

Cato - Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty

We were also honored to attend The Milton Friedman Prize for Advancing Liberty Biennial Dinner hosted by the Cato institute, honoring Charles G. Koch for a lifetime committed to supporting the world-wide advancement of human liberty.

The event featured prominent businessmen, entrepreneurs, and liberty leaders, and culminated in a touching award presentation by Chase Koch, CEO of Koch Industries and son of Charles Koch, and a speech by the elder Koch concluding with three of the most inspiring words in the English language: “Never give up!” 🥂 👏

TFAS Fellowship Recipients

The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) and The Wall Street Journal have announced Kate Farmer, Cole Murphy, and Suzanna Murawski as the three recipients of the 2025 Joseph Rago Memorial Fellowship for Excellence in Journalism. This year marks the first time since the Fellowship was founded in 2018 that three outstanding individuals have been selected in one year. 👏

TFAS will formally present Farmer, Murphy and Murawski with their 2025 Rago Fellowships at the 32nd Annual TFAS Journalism Awards Dinner on November 11 in New York City. During the dinner, TFAS will honor prominent leaders in journalism with the Thomas L. Phillips Career Achievement Award and the Kenneth Y. Tomlinson Award for Outstanding Journalism

New America’s Future CEO

America’s Future has a new top man! It was announced that Empower Illinois’ chief marketeer, Eric Kohn will be joining AF as the org’s newest CEO. 📣

Before joining Empower Illinois, Eric was the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Acton Institute and Director of Community Management at the Illinois Policy Institute, one of the nation’s premier state-based think tanks. He was also the Founder and CEO of Curious Task Strategies, a public affairs consulting firm. He is a producer of the award-winning film The Hong Konger: Jimmy Lai’s Extraordinary Struggle for Freedom, the 2022 documentary feature from the Acton Institute.

Regarding the transition, Peter Lipsett, the chair of the AF board of directors, expressed his excitement for the next chapter:

“Eric is a triple threat—he’s well-connected in the liberty movement, possesses a deep understanding of America’s Future and what makes it great, and is an entrepreneurial leader with a bold vision for growing the organization.”

Sound Money Defense League Legislative Win

Our friends at the Sound Money Defense League notched yet another legislative victory—this time in the Yellowhammer State, when Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed Senate Bill 130 into law, reaffirming gold and silver as legal tender. The Alabama Legal Tender Act recognizes “any refined gold or silver bullion, specie, or coin that has been stamped, marked, or imprinted with its weight and purity” as legal tender in Alabama. This symbolic victory marked another step towards SMDL’s goal; restoring gold and silver to its historic role as constitutional money. 🪙
